Karin Hanczewski is a German actress born on December 22, 1981, in Berlin. She comes from a Polish family and trained at the European Theatre Institute in Berlin from 2002 to 2005. Her early work included a permanent position at the Junge Theatre in Göttingen from 2005 to 2008. Hanczewski made her film debut in the 2007 comedy "Marla." She has since appeared in various film and television roles, with one of her most recognized roles being Karin Gorniak in the Tatort series, starting in 2016. In 2021, Hanczewski was part of the #ActOut initiative, where she came out as a lesbian alongside 184 other LGBTQ+ actors to promote diversity and acceptance in the industry
